The geometry of quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularities
A germ of equidimensional complex analytic variety is said quasi-ordinary if there is a finite projection to an affine space which is unramified outside a normal crossing divisor. Quasi-ordinary hypersurface singularities generalize plane curve singularities and are related to toric singularities.
They were introduced by Jung in the context of the resolution problem for surface singularities.
In the talk we discuss the geometry of these singularities including some results obtained in collaboration with P.D. Gonzalez-Perez and N. Budur.
