报告简介: Fractional diffusion equations model phenomena exhibiting anomalous diffusion that cannot be modeled accurately by the second-order diffusion equations. Because of the nonlocal property of fractional differential operators, the numerical methods for fractional diffusion equations often generate dense or even full coefficient matrices. Consequently, these methods have excessive computational work and memory requirement.
In this talk we go over the fractional diffusion equations and present a fast numerical method for space-fractional diffusion equations. The method has demonstrated significant computational and memory benefit, which shows the utility of the method.
